FREE Come Try Field Lacrosse Camp!

2011-06-26

Vancouver Island Youth Field Lacrosse is hosting a free field lacrosse camp SUNDAY, JUNE 26TH from 11am to 2pm in Duncan at the Cowichan Sportsplex.

Why play field lacrosse?

More and more athletes are discovering a reason to pick up sticks in the winter. Field lacrosse is the fastest growing game in North America at every level.

The appeal?

It’s a neat composite of other sports, it’s fast, it’s easy to learn, and it’s cool! Parents are discovering that field lacrosse is more exciting than soccer, cheaper than ice hockey and not as dangerous as football. The game is getting a closer look. Another great benefit to playing field lacrosse is the opportunity for good Canadian kids to get scholarships to play at universities in the United States. Right now there are over 25 kids from BC playing at US universities and that number is increasing every year.

The camp is open to all players ages 6 and up – there is no cost! Players will learn various skills and play in scrimmage games. There will be a barbeque on site, as well as an Island-wide registration for the 2011/2012 season.

All specialized equipment will be there to try. Just bring a regular lacrosse stick, gloves and a helmet. We will also have extra sticks available if you are new to the sport.

Mark your calendar! Sunday, June 26th, 11am to 2pm at the Cowichan Sportsplex, A547 Chesterfield Street, Duncan BC.
